Montana Sucks

Good day all!

Its just before midnight locally here in Butte, Montana!
Getting here was far from an exciting task but we made it never the less with great stories to tell.. sort of!

The first stop today was at Mt. Rushmore in South Dakota! A really great site to see, and the hard work that went into that is astonishing! A great thing to see for anyone that ever gets a chance to do it! There are pictures of it below, along with others from today as well including a stop at a gas station that had sculptures of presidents Kennedy, G. H. W. Bush, and Ronald Reagen!

Following Rushmore, we got back onto I-90 West and headed for Montana. We ended up on Route 212 in Western SD, and it took us into Wyoming. Route 212 is quite a crazy drive. Its a one lane highway with a speed limit of 70MPH. Definitely some nervous moments as I did some high speed passing of 18 Wheel trucks, but nice to go that fast!

We crossed into Montana less than an hour after Wyoming. Most of Montana and all that we saw of Wyoming was nothing but hills apon hills of wheat fields, some cows, and Indian reservation! we made a couple of stops today, but nothing too much! We eventually scaled a bunch of mountainous terrain which kind of sucked. The toughest part of the day was the last 5 hours. It was only supposed to take 3+ hours to finish it off, but we hit a good snow storm on the way through! We had to reduce speed quite a bit, and it really wasnt much fun.

Luckily though, we made it here safely, and we are both exhausted! About to crash now, and get ready to finish this thing off tomorrow! Butte, MT to Seattle, WA!! Should be another 10 hours tops, and well be there. We will also hit the pacific time zone pretty early in the day, depending on the weather in the mountains!

Have a great night all! Enjoy the pictures and Videos below! The videos are from yesterday, however the video from today will be up later.. Shaun was too tired tonight!

Good night now!

Corn, Cows, and Billboards!

Good evening all!

Today was quite a long one! I woke up at 7:40am Central Time, and have been going straight out since! After the continental breakfast we left for Rapid City, SD around 9am Central, and began the long journey. Not much happened in Iowa, though Shaun had to go to the bathroom about 90 minutes into the trip, so we had to make a stop pretty early on! We ended up stopping in Nashua, IA. We stopped at a Subway and I got a sandwich for lunch, figuring we wouldnt be stopping again for quite a while!

We crossed into Minnesota around 12:30 Central, and drove for a while seeing nothing but a TON of corn stalks! I highly doubt this great country of ours will ever run out of Corn! We made a pit stop about 30 miles from the South Dakota boarder and Shaun had lunch and I filled the gas tank! The gas station was called the Kum&Go.. hahaha.. horrible name, im sorry!

We drove for what seemed like forever through the first 2/3rds of the state seeing nothing but a pile of billboards and more cows than I thought possible! They were scattered everywhere!! There were very very few house properties, and very little in the way of modern civilation! The roads were very flat and straight, which was great because the speed limit was up to 75 so it was a very easy drive, with very little traffic!

We finally started to see some land scape towards the later part of the state. We stopped shortly after the change over to the Mountain Time Zone for a quick fill up, and were about 90 minutes away from Rapid City, where our hotel is located. However, after seeing many many billboards for a place called "Wall Drug" we had to stop! We didnt really want to, but we also didnt want to miss out on something that was quite well advertised! We stopped and checked it out, and it was actually really cool. It was a small road/village with several small shops, including a big one which was Wall Drug. In side there were various items mostly aimed towards tourists! I grabbed a T-Shirt, while Shaun also got a shirt and a cowboy hat! After several broke back mountain jokes aimed in his direction, we got back on the road towards the city!

We arrived here around 7:30pm Mountain Time, and after a quick shower we went out to the Cheers bar across the parking lot! had a quick dinner and a couple drinks. Shaun tried his luck at the video poker, and won a few bucks! The waitress was wicked hot!

The city it self is very nice! A very mid-western style city, which is probably obvious, but still great to experience! The view in the last hour of the drive was also really nice. Smooth mountains which looked great during dusk! It was the first time seeing all of this today, and I have to say I really enjoyed it! The people here are very friendly, and I am really glad I got to make this trip. So far it has been a little boring but very enjoyable!!

Thats all for now.. this 2 hour change in a 2 day period has taken full effect! hahaha! Tomorrow we leave for Butte, Montana, but not after seeing Mt. Rushmore! Thats a really big reason why were here, and I am really excited to see it! Here are some pictures from today, and Ill have many more from Rushmore tomorrow!

Have a good one everyone!!

Oh Iowa!!

Welp, were here in Iowa!! Cedar Rapids to be percise! Its a pretty nice area! The ride here was pretty good too, but I guess anything compared to a 14 hour over night commute is good! haha!
We stoped for lunch at a rest stop, and other than one other stop, we drove straight through to Iowa in about 8.5-9 hours or so!

The coolest part of the trip was crossing into the Central Time Zone. I have actually never left the Eastern Time Zone until today, so that was pretty neat to watch my cell phone drop back an hour! Tomorrow we will gain another hour when we cross into the Mountain Time Zone in South Dakota!!

Tonight Shaun and I went out to a place called Mulligans Pub! It was actually very nice, and much different than I expected! Last night we went to a small pub with an older feel to it. Tonights was a more modern sports pub with a bunch of big screen tv's, and loud music playing in the background. Sort of a club feel in a sports bar. The bar did have a Red Sox banner hanging up, which was pretty awesome! They had a lot of other stuff too!

Tomorrow morning we head out to South Dakota! We should arrive there around 7-8pm local time! Then we will see Mount Rushmore the next morning!

Time to do some chatting! Have a good one all, more videos and blogs coming soon!

Video One from our Trip!

Is New York over yet?!?!?

It hasnt been long since my last update, but I wanted to post. Shaun and I are stopped at a rest stop just east of Buffalo, NY. Oh, this just in, New York is frigan big! We have been in New York since about 1:30 this morning, and its now nearly 8am. We wont be here much longer, the boarder to Pennsylvania isnt too far away!

Right now were hanging out at timmy hortons, got some breakfast! I discovered Vanilla Strawberry donuts.. Amazing!! They will be the reason I die of a massive stroke some day, but damn they are teriffic!! Shaun and I are both pretty tired at this point, and we are about 4-5 hours away from our first full stop; Sandusky, Ohio! So far Shaun hasnt wanted to kill me, but my brilliant singing voice is putting him on edge I think!! haha.. Video blogs to come tonight! Ill be sure to post the link!

Have a wonderful day everyone! Ill post again after my nap this afternoon in Ohio!!

First trip update.. 7 Hours in!

Shaun and I are nearly 7 hours into the trip! So far, not much as happened, but its been good! We left the Big JAB studios at 10:30ish. After a pretty uneventfuly trip through, we got into I-90 in new york and saw a vicious 18-wheeler truck accident. 3 of them, two rolled over and one absolutly smashed!! We will be checking the new york news papers online to get more details! it was nuts! We stopped just after the accident which was just out side of Albany! We grabbed a burger and a piece of fruit.. I had an apple, shaun had a banana, which you can see in my pictures! Since then Shaun took over behind the wheel and has been driving since 3:30.. its 5:15 now, and were about to make another stop so shaun can use the bathroom and im gonna take over driving again.

Having the internet while driving is really great! I have been chatting with Valarie most of the time Ive been passanger, and Its been great! Something to keep me entertained while staring a miles and miles of pavement!

The trip is so far so good! Ill update again later!!
